Picking a locksmith can feel like a coin flip. The ads all look the same, the phone numbers all say local, and every company says it’s fast and fair. So we figured we’d just lay out how we work next to how a lot of other companies in the area do it.
We’re Best Locksmith, and we’ve been working around Miami for 15 years. This isn’t about trashing anybody, plenty of locksmiths do honest work. It’s more of a checklist, and we’re happy for you to hold us to it too.
How We Compare at a Glance
Here’s the quick version.
| What matters | Best Locksmith | Some other companies |
|---|---|---|
| Who answers | A local team with a shop on Harding Avenue in Miami Beach | A call center in another city |
| Price | Flat price given before work starts | A low "service fee" and a bigger bill later |
| Getting in | Non-destructive entry first, drilling as a last resort | Drilling right away |
| Technicians | Licensed, bonded, insured and background checked | Hard to check, or no clear answer |
| Services | Homes, condos, offices and shops | Lockouts only |
| Local know-how | Works across Miami Beach, Downtown Miami, Coral Gables and more | Covers a huge area, knows little of it |
A Local Team vs a Call Center
This is probably the biggest difference. Search locksmith near me and a lot of the listings show a local address. Some of those companies answer the phone in a call center somewhere else, then hand your job to whoever’s free. You don’t always know who’s coming or what they’ll charge.
With us it’s a local team working out of a shop on Harding Avenue in Miami Beach. You can look the address up, you can stop by. That sounds like a small thing, but it means there’s an actual place and actual people behind the phone number.
Price: One Number Up Front
Pricing is where a lot of the complaints about locksmiths come from. A really low “service fee” gets you to call, then the total grows once the work starts. It’s an old trick and it’s annoying.
We give a flat price before any work starts. If you’d rather compare, call two or three places and ask each one for the full total, not just the starting fee. Then see whose number stays the same at the door. Honestly, the cheapest quote on the phone isn’t always the cheapest one in the end. On a normal locksmith visit it goes price first, then the work, then payment. Reading customer reviews is another way to check how it goes for other people.
Where We Do Things Differently
- We try non-destructive entry first. Drilling is for when nothing else works, so a house lockout shouldn’t leave a scratch on your door.
- We do the bigger jobs too, like master key systems, panic bars and access control for offices and buildings.
- Rekeying often costs less than a new lock, so it’s worth asking about before you agree to a replacement.
- We take emergency locksmith calls, not just planned jobs.
- We don’t mind questions. Ask for ID, a price, a license. All normal.
Experience and Credentials
We’ve been at this for 15 years around Miami. That doesn’t make anybody perfect, but you do learn stuff. Which locks fail early, which door frames shift in the humidity, how salt air eats metal. A lot of it you only pick up by doing the job again and again.
Our technicians are licensed, bonded and insured, and they’re background checked. Any locksmith should be able to say that clearly, and you should ask. Licensed means they’re allowed to do the work. Bonded and insured mean there’s protection if something goes wrong. If a company gets vague when you ask, that tells you something.
What This Looks Like Around Miami
Miami is hard on locks. Salt air and humidity wear metal down, and locks near the water go stiff or rusty faster than ones further inland. So a locksmith in Miami Beach who works here every day sees that stuff all the time, and knows what to look for.
Different areas have different needs too. South Beach is full of apartments and visitors, so an apartment lockout South Beach call is often a lost key or a door that won’t open. Downtown Miami has apartments and offices, so a 24 hour locksmith in Downtown Miami tends to run into key cards and door hardware. Coral Gables has lots of older homes, so an emergency locksmith in Coral Gables may end up swapping hardware that’s decades old. A company answering from far away may not think about any of that.
| Area | What people often need |
|---|---|
| Miami Beach | Rusty or stiff locks, house lockouts, rekeying |
| South Beach | Apartment lockouts, lost keys, rekeying after a tenant moves out |
| Downtown Miami | Office and apartment locks, key cards |
| Coral Gables | Older door hardware, rekeying, home security |
| Aventura | Condo door locks, shop and office lockouts |
| Sunny Isles Beach | High-rise condo locks, rekeying after a move |
So Who Should You Call in Miami?
We’re not going to tell you we’re the only good locksmith in town, because we aren’t. But a local shop, a flat price up front, a careful way into your door and technicians who are licensed, bonded and insured is a fair thing to ask for. Hold everybody to it, us included.
Save a number before you need one, and take your time with the quote even if you’re stressed. It’s easy to say yes to the first voice on the phone. Checking a couple things first doesn’t take long. And if a lock of yours has started sticking, get it looked at early, because it’ll pick the worst moment to fail.
